Shannon Brown joined the Cleveland Cavaliers as a first round pick in 2006 after a stellar career at Michigan State University in which he earned second Team All-Big Ten and All-Big Ten Defensive team honors from 2003 to 2006. After averaging 17.2 points during his junior year at Michigan State he joined the Cavaliers and became a valuable performer off the bench, averaging just over five points during his first two seasons in Cleveland. Since that time he has seen time with the Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks and Miami Heat. In 2009 and 2011 Brown was a part of the Lakers NBA Championship teams and followed that up by posting career highs the next two seasons in Phoenix, averaging 10.7 points per game for the Suns. During his nearly decade long career he has averaged just over 7 points per game and continues to be a valuable asset for coaches during crucial times during games.

Coach Brown is entering her first year as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Paschal.  She brings 27 years of experience coaching basketball with her, most recently at Poteet High School in Mesquite, TX where she served as Varsity assistant and JV coach for the girls’ basketball program and as an assistant for girls’ track.  Prior to Poteet, Coach Brown spent 10 years as the Head Basketball Coach at The Oakridge School in Arlington, TX and 10 years as a college assistant, 8 of which were at the Division I level.  Overall, her successes include qualifying for the playoffs numerous times, 1 undefeated district season, advancing to the Regional Quarterfinal round and receiving several All-District honors including 1 Player of the Year and 1 Offensive Player of the Year while at Poteet. At The Oakridge School, accolades include qualifying for the Southwest Preparatory Conference Division I Championships 4 times, 5 players going on to play collegiate basketball, at least 1 player received All-SPC honors every year and numerous players have received SPC All-North Zone awards.
