Brief biography of Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (R.A.)

Abu Ayyub al-Ansari’s (R.A.) full name is Khalid ibn Zayd ibn Kulayb (R.A.) from the tribe of Banu Najjar. He was a great and close companion of the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.). He was known as Abu Ayyub (the father of Ayyub) and enjoyed a privilege which many of the Ansaar (Muslim residents of Madinah who welcomed Muslims from Makkah) in Madinah hoped they would have.

When the Prophet (S.A.W.) reached Madinah after his migration (hijrah) from Makkah, he (S.A.W.) was greeted with great enthusiasm by the Ansaar of Madinah. Their hearts went out to him (S.A.W.) and their eyes followed him (S.A.W.) with devotion and love. They wanted to give him (S.A.W.) the most generous reception anyone could be given.

The Prophet (S.A.W.) first stopped at ‘Quba’ (where Masjid-e-Quba is situated) on the outskirts of Madinah and stayed there for some days. The first thing he did was to build a mosque which is described in the Quran as the "Mosque built on the foundation of piety (taqwa)". (Surah At-Tawbah 9:108).

'Abdullah al-Kharraj bin Mu'awiyah bin 'Abdullahal-Ja'farial-Hasyimi (wafat pada 756), adalah seorang pemimpin pemberontakan melawan Marwan al-Himar.

Bangkit melawan Bani Umayyah

Pada usia 15 tahun[1] 'Abdullah telah ikut serta dalam pemberontakan Zaid bin 'Ali bin Husain. 'Abdullah mengangkat senjata bersama para penduduk Khurasan melawan Bani Umayyah untuk menuntut Khilafah atas Bani Hasyim.

Diceritakan oleh Ibnu 'Asakir,

"Abdullah bin Mu'awiyah bin 'Abdullah bin Ja'far bin Abu Thalib muncul dan dibaiat sebagai Khalifah di Isfahan pada tahun 127 H pada masa kekuasaan Marwan bin Muhammad dan berkuasa atas Fars dan Kerman. Banyak yang menjadi pengikutnya dan banyak yang mendukungnya dengan harta."
