Little Dragon are a Swedish electronic music band from Gothenburg, Sweden, formed in 1996. The band consists of Yukimi Nagano (vocals, percussion), Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Wallin (bass) and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards).
Little Dragon's first release was the double A-side seven-inch vinyl single "Twice"/"Test", released on the Off the Wall label in 2006. The following year, the band signed with the larger British independent label Peacefrog Records and released their eponymous debut album in August 2007.[8] Their second album, Machine Dreams, was released in August 2009, and gathered favourable reviews. The third album, Ritual Union, was released in July 2011 and was ranked at number 41 on Rolling Stone list of the 50 Best Albums of 2011.[8][9]Clash placed it at number 31 on its list of The Top 40 Albums of 2011.[10]

Interview: Yukimi Nagano of Little Dragon
Yukimi Nagano is a delightfully complex individual. Ethnically part Japanese and hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, she grew up listening to the folk lyrics of her mother’s albums, while gaining an ear for R’n’B through her love of soulful vocals. By the time she reached her late teens, Nagano’s guest vocals had become the highlight of some of the most notable dance hits in Sweden due mainly to her soulfully ethereal style. Yearning to make a career through her own writing, she teamed with former high school pals, and fellow soul-smiths Erik Bodin, Frederik Kalgren-Wallin and Hakan Wirenstrand, to form the funk-electronic unit Little Dragon.
As the band embarked on a tour through the U.S., in support of their sophomore album Machine Dreams, Nagano graciously took time out of her schedule to speak with us. Traveling via van to San Francisco, battling horrible cell phone reception and dropped calls, she took a moment to discuss Little Dragon’s past, present and future.
What was your mindset when you went Yukimi Nagano can best be described as a vocalist whose jazz/r&b style lends it’s self to any genre she decides she wants to do that day. When I first heard it, her voice reminded me of what a baby between T-Boz and Erykah Badu might sound like. Best known for being the lead singer of the Swedish Electro-Pop band Little Dragon, Yukimi has also been featured on so many memorable tracks from well known artists. Everyone from Faith Evans to the surviving members of The Clash! I figured the best way to break down this lesson is to deconstruct all the reasons I love this woman so much. So take notes! Here is the H.HAY? Study of Yukimi Nagano. Yukimi was born and raised in Gothenburg, Sweden to a Swedish-American mother and a Japanese father. The 36 year old got her big break at 18 singing and touring with Swedish jazz collective Koop.
