Hanabiko, nicknamed "Koko" (July 4, 1971 – June 19, 2018) was a female western lowland gorilla born in the San Francisco Zoo[2] and cross-fostered by Francine Patterson for use in ape language experiments. Koko gained public attention as the subject of two National Geographic cover stories and, in 1980, the best-selling children's picture book, Koko's Kitten. Koko became the world's most famous representative of her critically endangered species.
Koko's communication skills were hotly debated.[3][4][5] Koko used many signs adapted from American Sign Language, but the scientific consensus to date remains that she did not demonstrate the syntax or grammar required of true language. Patterson was widely criticized for misrepresenting Koko's skills, and, in the 1990s, for her care of Koko and Gorilla Foundation staff.

Born to a Nigerian father and a Jamaican mother, Odo Claire (‘Koko’) Kalango is a freelance writer and founder of the Rainbow Book Club (part of the Rainbow Foundation), whose work in promoting reading amongst young people was instrumental in Port Harcourt being World Book Capital 2014. For this honour brought to Nigeria, Koko received a national award.
Projects Koko has overseen include the Port Harcourt World Book Capital year-long programme; ‘Africa 39,’ a selection and celebration of 39 important African writers under the age of 40 which led to the publishing of a book with this title; the establishment of a 300-seater library in Port Harcourt sponsored by SHELL to mark Nigeria’s centenary, the Port Harcourt Book Festival (formerly the Garden City Literary Festival) and the Get Nigeria Reading Again campaign.
Koko is the author of Colours of Life, a devotional, she writes the Colours of Life column in This Day Style Magazine and hosts the Colours of Life show.

Cristián Daniel Stambuk Sandoval (born March 16, 1977, in Osorno, Chile), better known by his stage name Koko, is a Chilean singer-songwriter and producer, known for being the singer of the band Glup! and producing artists like Kudai, Luis Fonsi, Reik, Denise Rosenthal and Maite Perroni who was also his girlfriend from 2013 to 2020. His parents were Croatian immigrants.
Career
Koko began his career on 1996 being the lead man and songwriter of the Chilean band Glup! until 2002. After the split off of Glup!, Koko participated on the soundtracks of En la cama, Cesante and Los Debutantes. Along with Cristian Heyne formed the successful pop groups Supernova, Stereo 3, Amango, CRZ, Gufi, Kudai, Six Pack and worked with singers Kel and Denise Rosenthal. In 2006 formed part of the creation of the first virtual band Frijoles along with Luis Tata Bigorra (former Los Tetas) and Chico Claudio.[1][2]
