60’s

Stevie Vann Lange was born in Mufulira Zambia a small African village close to the Congo border, her Father was a copper miner her Mother a doctor, they both encouraged her to play the piano from the age of 6 years old and she was singing in a dance band by the age of 12 years.

Her Dad used to take her to gigs, hang around and bring her back home till she was old enough at age 16 to drive and take herself.

Soon after she was 16 years old she had her own television show in which she danced and sang to a Hollywood a gogo style.

By her late teens she had released two LPs in her own right and had been voted Top Female Vocalist in South Africa, where she was presented a Sari award by the late great Peter Sellers.

A household name by the time she was a young teenager Stevie became the top TV and radio jingle singer in South Africa, singing on virtually every advert going.

70’s

Stevie attended the same school as Mutt Lange in Mufulira and when she left Zambia met up with him later again in South Africa

Stevie Vann Lange

Stevie Lange (real name Stevie Vann Lange) is a Zambian-born British singer and vocal coach. She is known for her work as a backing vocalist and studio singer for many groups and solo performers in the 1970s and 1980s. She was a lead vocalist for a music group called Night. She had two Top Twenty U.S. chart hits in the late 1970s. Raised in Mufulira, Northern Rhodesia (Zambia) where her father worked as a copper miner and her mother as a physician, she showed an early aptitude for music through playing piano at the age of six. At 12, she began to perform with dance bands and she starred in her own television variety show at the age of 16. She had released two solo albums. In high demand as a radio and TV commercial jingle singer while still a teen, she also earned a Sarie Award as South Africa's Top Female Vocalist.

Stevie attended the same school as Mutt Lange in Mufulira. She left Zambia and the two met again in South Africa where they married and formed a band called Hocus. They both sang on jingles and spent some time writing, recording and playing gigs. W

Stevie Vann Lange (aka Stevie Lange; Stevie Vann) is a singer. She was born as Stevie van Kerken in Mufulira, Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia).

She sang backing vocals on the version of Def Leppard 's "When Love And Hate Collide" on their Vault compilation. Additionally, she has sung backup for Manfred Mann , Sweet , Colin Blunstone, Jim Capaldi, Trevor Rabin, UFO, Rick Wakeman, Crawler, The Comsat Angels, Gang of Four, Wham, Tears for Fears, Johnny Hates Jazz, Swing Out Sister, and Ray Charles.

In the 1970s, she was married to record producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, record producer for AC/DC and Def Leppard. She and Lange attended school together, and also were in a band, Hocus.

In the 1970s Vann had a backing group, Bones. In the late 1970s Vann met Chris Thompson when performing backing vocals for a Manfred Mann's Earth Band album. Thompson approached Vann to form a band, known as Night after Bones split. Night then later split in 1983 after two albums.
