JUDITH LIGHT is known for her extensive body of work onstage, as well as in television and film. She most recently received a Star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Light currently stars in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series The Politician, and in the musical finale of Transparent, Amazon Prime’s Golden Globe–winning series, created by Jill Soloway, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination and multiple Emmy and Critics’ Choice nominations. Her role in Ryan Murphy’s Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story garnered her an Emmy nomination and Critics Choice nomination.

In 2012 and 2013, Light won two consecutive Tony and Drama Desk awards for her performances in Other Desert Cities and The Assembled Parties; these two performances made her the first actress in nearly two decades to win consecutive Tony Awards. Light also received the 2019 Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award for her extensive philanthropy work.

Multiple Tony and Emmy award-winning actress JUDITH LIGHT is known for her extensive body of television, film, and onstage work, for which she recently received a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Opposite Bette Midler, Ben Platt, and Gwyneth Paltrow, she currently stars in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series The Politician. Most recently, Light starred in Transparent, Amazon Prime’s Golden Globe-winning series, created by Jill Soloway, for which she received a Golden Globe nomination and multiple Emmy and Critics’ Choice nominations. In 2018, her role in Ryan Murphy’s Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, garnered her an Emmy and Critics Choice nomination.

Light can now be seen in Lionsgate/Spectrum Originals’ anthology series Manhunt: Deadly Games airing in 2020. Actress Judith Light has repeatedly taken on challenging and unconventional roles. Light graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in drama shortly before making her professional debut in Richard III at the California Shakespeare Festival in 1970. She debuted on Broadway in 1975 in A Doll’s House but almost quit acting when she was unable to land any parts for a time. In 1977, after some hesitation, she joined the cast of One Life to Live; her role as Karen Wolek, a housewife-turned prostitute, earned her two Daytime Emmy Awards. From 1984 through 1992, Light played a successful ad executive and mother on Who’s the Boss. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, she starred in several made-for-TV and feature films. In 1999, she returned to the stage in the off-Broadway production of Wit, which earned her high praise. She continued to work in television, with recurring roles on Law & Order SVU from 2002 to 2010 and on Ugly Betty from 2006 to 2010.
