Egon Zehnder: How do you want to contribute to that goal?

Rothschild: Through telling stories and using those stories to inspire businesses, politicians, and citizens. It’s about reenergizing people to recognize that we all have a stake in our future. We all have an ability to vote for a leader, and we can make good choices. We all have an ability to become the champions that we want to be.

The problem is we are so disenfranchised, disempowered, and cut off from our community. We have Facebook, Twitter, and all these virtual communities. But we have very little contact; we have very little sense of community when it comes to specific issues. To me the biggest challenge is: How do we actually inspire people to say I don’t want this? And we have seen that happen recently, we have seen the uprising in the Middle East, and we have seen it happen on particular issues where people are using virtual communities to create physical communities of change. David René James de Rothschild (1942-)

Baron David René James de Rothschild was born 15 December 1942, in New York, where his parents had travelled for safety during the Second World War. He is the son of Guy Edouard Alphonse Paul de Rothschild (1909-2007)and Alix Hermine Jeanette Schey von Koromla (1911-1982). While his mother remained in New York throughout the war, his father went back to Europe where he joined the Free French Forces. After the war, the family returned home to Paris, where he was educated at Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris in Paris, graduating in 1966.

He has one half-brother, Edouard de Rothschild from his father's later marriage to Marie-Hélène van Zuylen van Nyevelt. He married Princess Olimpia Anna Aldobrandini in 1974 and they have 4 children: Lavinia Anne Alix, Stéphanie Anne Marie, Alexandre Guy Francesco de Rothschild, and Louise Lili Béatrice.

He began his business career at Société miniére et métallurgique de Peñarroya, one of the family's international mining businesses headquartered in Paris. He then began training in de Rothschild

David Mayer de Rothschild (born 25 August 1978) is a British environmentalist, film producer and a member of the Rothschild family.^[1]

Early life

Rothschild is the youngest of three children of Victoria Lou Schott (1949 – 18 January 2021) and Sir Evelyn de Rothschild (1931–2022) of the Rothschild banking family of England.^[1]^[2] His middle name "Mayer" is taken from the name of the founder of the Rothschild family banking empire, Mayer Amschel Rothschild. The youngest heir to his family's banking fortune, Rothschild was born in 1978 in London, England. His mother was American, the daughter of Marcia Lou (née Whitney) and real estate developer Lewis M. Schott.^[3] He is the younger brother of Anthony de Rothschild and Jessica de Rothschild. As a teenager, Rothschild was a top-ranked horse jumper on Britain's junior event team.
