After listening to some of the Bisrock songs I have on my mp3 playlist today, I realized I had to have another venue for OPM songs on my blog but a separate one for Bisaya or Visayan ones. It is just a totally different music genre that it does not do it justice if I add it to OPM Thursdays so starting today, I am adding BisDak Wednesdays. (“Bisayang Daku”)
And the embodiment of BisDak for me has always been Missing Filemon. Although a lot of Cebuano Bisaya bands came before them, it was Missing Filemon that really made a mark and possibly started a new era of appreciation for the music with our native tongue Cebuano.
I have to say though that the likes of Yoyoy Villame had their own share of Bisaya music however back then it was considered novelty and more comical as opposed to really serious music. Probably even considered “baduy” and “bakya” by a lot of people but I grew up listening to those types of songs as my Lolo Basilio (God bless his soul) would play his music on Sundays..(Those were the days…)
Anyway, for those who don’t know missing
