Exposition georges rousse biography

Georges Rousse

Throughout the world, in abandoned buildings, before their destruction or rehabilitation, Georges Rousse established his work and his darkroom over the last twenty years.  He set up his mobile studio in places in which he has given a new story, a new soul.  As he likes to say, “I am appealing to numerous artistic practices: I am the project designer, painter of the place, an architect by my interpretation of the space and construction that I organize there, and finally, the photographer to bring together all of these actions.”

New spaces are created by the effects of perspective, anamorphosis, and trompe-l’œil technique.  For photography, the transition from three-dimensional space to two-dimensional image disturbs the eye and seems to be unreal, like what happens with a painting.  All the complexity of the relationships between architecture, photography, and painting are evident in his peaceful photographs with their serene and contemplative atmosphere.
